Repair technician - Reading - £27,000 (Permanent)

Role: Repair Technician (Graduate or experience)
Location: reading
Salary: £25,000 - £28,000
Benefits: 25 days + 8 BH , life assurance 4x your salary and pension 3%


I am working with a well-known company who are looking to hire a graduate engineer or experienced engineer as a customer support engineer.

You will join the Customer Support team with the responsibility of providing technical assistance to our global customer network.

The ideal candidate will have knowledge of, or interest in, areas including sampling theory, networking (IP, WiFi, GSM and serial), digital and analogue electronics, control systems and the Windows, Linux and macOS operating systems.

Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

*Working through a list of prioritised support tickets
*Supporting customers through remote diagnosis and deciding strategies on how to proceed with repairs/support
*Liaising with the Engineering department to provide continuous feedback in order to improve product design and reliability
*There will be some requirement to assist with day to day activities, commensurate with your capabilities, within the company, particularly Repairs and Test
*There is also the possibility to travel internationally to support field services, in a 'hands-on' function


Skills and Expertise

Essential
oProblem solving mind-set
oEngineering degree, or equivalent
oEffective interpersonal and communication skills
oExcellent organisation skills and ability to manage priorities
oComputer literate
oPractical knowledge of electrical troubleshooting methods and equipment

Desirable
oKnowledge of networking (IP / WiFi / GSM / serial)
oKnowledge of programming in at least one language
oAbility to work on own initiative in order to develop the team
oExperience of providing support externally to international client base
oInterest in seismology/geology
oMultilingual, could be beneficial.
