Role: Customer support technician
Location: Reading
Salary: £25,000 - £30,000
Benefits: 25 days + 8 BH , life assurance 4x your salary and pension 3%
What is your role?
Your role as a support technician will be to provide first and second line technical support to the international client base, distributors, users and operators.
A customer facing role that requires a broad-based technical understanding including networking (IP, WiFi, GSM and serial protocol), digital and analogue electronics, mechanics, control systems, Windows, Linux and macOS operating systems. Also assisting with technical sales and product training.
Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
*Supporting customers through remote diagnosis and deciding strategies on how to proceed with repairs/support.
*Learn about Guralp products and working applications to be able to provide first and second line support to clients and users.
*Liaising with the Engineering department to provide continuous feedback in order to improve product design and reliability.
*There will be some requirement to assist with day to day activities, commensurate with your capabilities, within the company, particularly Repairs and Test departments.
*Working through a list of prioritised support tickets to provide an efficient and professional service to end users.
*Supporting field services, in a 'hands-on' role that would require international travel.
Skills and Experience
Essential
oFamiliarity with sampling theory and cybernetics (control theory)
oWorking knowledge of digital and analogue electronics
oBasic knowledge of mechanical and electrical engineering
oPractical knowledge of electrical troubleshooting methods and equipment
oProblem solving mind-set
oEngineering degree, or equivalent
oEffective interpersonal and communication skills
oExcellent self-organisation skills and ability to manage priorities
oComputer literate
oBasic knowledge of networking, electronics and control theory
oGood background of maths and physics
