We now have an exciting opportunity has arisen to join one of the South West's leading employers as a Mechanical Fitter for our team in Bournemouth.

The Role

The Mechanical Fitter will be responsible for the fault finding, repair and maintenance of SWW assets across a range of company sites, predominantly water treatment works and pumping stations. Duties include:

  • Asset repair and maintenance as scheduled by your manager.
  • Help to make site operators familiar with any new plant or equipment installed.
  • Assisting operational staff with the resolution of complex problems.
  • Using method statements and safe systems of work for the activities you carry out.
  • Acting as duty mechanical fitter on a call-out rota basis.
  • Having a good understanding of Health & Safety responsibilities in a work place.
  • Working with or in close proximity to chemicals in accordance with COSHH, QMS Procedures and relevant Health and Safety standards.
  • Liaising with the Maintenance & FSC Manager to ensure schedules are optimised.
  • Instructing & assisting in the development of trainees / apprentices.
  • The ability to travel throughout the region and assist other areas as necessary

The Ideal Mechanical Fitter:

  • Experience of working in a mechanical or engineering role
  • A completed apprenticeship in a relevant technical discipline
  • Able to deliver an effective maintenance service in both workshop and site environments
  • Able to fault find and repair large complex pieces of mechanical equipment
  • Able to work under pressure to deliver within tight deadlines
  • Must have a full driving licence
