As a design engineer your role is to support developments of aerospace activities, with definition of repair solutions relating to production non-conformities.


Key Responsibilities:

*Validate dispositions as part of approval signatory team, to manufacturing non conformances and repair solutions where necessary
*To provide support on definition of dispositions to manufacturing non conformances and to define repair solutions where necessary.
*To promote and contribute to initiatives aimed at improving the performance of Design and the Business.
*To investigate potential design solutions for new components / assemblies and modifications to existing components (Composites mainly and, metallic) / assemblies.
*To optimise the design solution selected for each component / assembly, based on the correct balance of cost, quality, manufacturability, serviceability and performance.
*To provide evidence of design compliance with Customer / Technical specifications.
*To produce engineering schemes, models and drawings for components / assemblies in line with the requirements of the Programme.
*To provide structured problem solving (8D) support to manufacturing areas and to resolve any identified design issues.
*To complete design related Corrective Actions resulting from manufacturing non conformances.
*To work rigorously to customer group procedures.
*Ensure quality of deliveries
*Participate to progress review meetings with the project team
*Support the planning definition (estimation of required time to perform tasks)


Essential skills:

-Excellent knowledge of Seats Design, preferably related to the Aerospace industry
-Knowledge of flammability requirement in Aerospace cabin interior systems would be an asset.
-Excellent knowledge of computerized design and analysis methods (CATIA V5)
-Knowledge of Tolerance management (tolerance stack up)
-Good knowledge of aerospace Composite/Metallic materials and manufacturing processes
-Good knowledge of Microsoft office
-Knowledge of Product Lifecycle Management (PDM)Customer focused/Ability to establish credibility with internal and external customers
-Understanding of stress principles
-Awareness of A/C industry standards, regulations and qualification requirements


Location:

The role would be based in the first instance in Newport area in this first phase, the aim is to consolidate the engineer skillset by working closely with customer team and validating the non-conformance deviations, related to flammability concerns.

For this reason, it's key that the candidate can either justify some background on Seats design or Flammability aspects ideally in aircraft cabin interior environment. After an initial period 12 months approx., he could join the remaining team in our Bristol office.
