Artist's Assistant (Contract)

My client is currently recruiting a number of Art Graduates/Experienced Painters for long term fixed term contracts at their Gloucestershire office.

This role involves working independently or as part of the wider team under supervisor direction - you will have the opportunity to take part in various creative, production-based tasks such as preparing canvases, applying colour theory and painting under strict guidelines.

Experience with fabrication and sharp accuracy are essential for this role. Work of a repetitive nature may be required

Role Responsibilities:

• Preparing canvases - stretching and priming.
• Painting under strict direction.
• Applying a good sense of colour and colour theory.
• Handling artworks - moving and lifting artwork and materials under supervision.
• Assisting with framing of artworks.
• To look after and maintain any work tools and any work-related equipment.
• Maintain and keep tidy the working environment and the staff areas.
• To maintain excellent time keeping and professionalism at all times.

Skills and Experience:

• Diploma or equivalent with a background in the Arts or Graphics
• Experience of fabrication and installation of mainly 2D artwork projects under specific direction
• Ability to work accurately and with care (drawing, painting, measuring etc)
• Strong colour matching and paint mixing skills
• Good interpersonal skills

Person profile:

• Enthusiastic with a friendly and industrious approach to work
• Wide knowledge of painting techniques & materials
• Experience and skills of using various paint mediums - acrylics, enamels, oils etc.
• Computer literate - ideally Mac - Photoshop, Excel etc
• Initiative & strong problem-solving skills
• Confident with using a variety of tools (screwdriver, hammer etc)
• Full Clean driving licence
