Role Title
MAINTENANCE ASSISTANT/TUG DRIVER

Role Purpose
. To tow aircraft to and from maintenance inputs at The Hangar if qualified and required in local production area
. To ensure all ground equipment is serviced, inspected and cleaned to level in accordance with TPM process, in accordance with local procedures
. Position GSE and tooling where needed , as directed by local manager / supervisor

Safe movement of aircraft to and from The Virgin Hangar including other movements around the airport as required such as taking aircraft for high power runs. To be carried out in accordance with VAA and Airport procedures

Keep Wheel change kit trailers replenished, position trailers, access steps, MEWPs , at or around aircraft on the ramp as directed by DMM / supervisor. Drive and operate MEWPs when requested. Ensure waste fluid drain bowsers are available and regularly emptied. Dispose of waste material resulting from ramp maintenance activity appropriately

Positioning equipment, maintaining vehicles and hands on maintenance rectification where possible. Fault reporting of unserviceable equipment and facilities

Assist engineers in basic fully supervised aircraft maintenance tasks when the schedule and workload requires them to and TPM is complete.

Transportation of Nitrogen/Oxygen bottles for charging

Assist with collection and carrying of equipment

Perform routine maintenance of vehicles including regular checking/replenishment of fluid and oil levels

Skills
. Experience towing 747-400, and A330-300 aircraft
. Team Work
. Ability to work under own initiative
. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely
. Build and maintain customer relationships

Ability to work to deadlines and operational time scales

Qualifications & Experience (min level of requirement)
. Full driving licence
. Tug driver licence applicable to airport requirements and production area
. Knowledge of aviation terminology
. Good written and spoken English
. Recent experience as a tug driver essential with proven experience of moving Boeing 747's and Airbus A340/A330 family aircraft depending on local airport operation and production area.
. Full knowledge of the airside/ATC driving rules at relevant Airport.
. Recent experience delivering tug driver training if qualified tug driver
. Able to deliver basic level OJT on locally used GSE.
. As night shift is critical to the operation a certain amount of flexibility is required to provide Maintenance assistance/ tug driver cover 24/7
