Legal Aid Costs Lawyer/ Costs Draftsman (Permanent)

A firm based in Yorkshire are currently looking to recruit a Legal Aid Costs Lawyer/ Costs Draftsman. You will need to have previous Legal Aid experience in a cost related position as this is vital to the role.

The role is predominantly drafting Legal Aid bills for Assessment & High Costs case plans. You will be responsible for supper and advising fee earners on Legal Aid eligibility, prior authority issues, costs limits, payments on accounts etc. You will be expected to draft bills, perform costs budgets and be able to demonstrate points of replies and disputes. There will be occasional inter partners and private client bills to attend to as well.

Your main responsibilities will be:

* Drafting bills of costs for detailed assessment in both legally aided and privately funded matters

* Preparing High costs Case plans

* Dealing with claims through CCMS

* Drafting replies to Points of Dispute

* Drafting Costs Budgets and liaising with the opponent with a view to narrowing the issues or agreeing ahead of a CCMC

* Undertaking negotiations with the opponent.

You will need to have at least 3 years' experience in a Costs Lawyer or Costs Draftsman position. You will need to have experience of using CostMaster. It is vital that you have previous Legal Aid experience.

You will be supporting both offices in Leeds and Huddersfield so travel may be required. The firm also would look at some sort of flexible working for the right candidate.

The salary on offer is £25,000 to £40,000 dependant on experience.
