Maintenance Technician (Mechanical), Materials Recycling Facility (MRF), Milton Keynes
Salary – Competitive

At Viridor, we’re one of the UK’s leading recycling, renewable energy and waste management companies and part of the FTSE 250 Pennon Group. We put waste into action, transforming it into high quality recyclables, raw materials and energy and are at the forefront of the UK’s green economy. We’re undergoing rapid change and development which provides opportunities for those who are seeking a role to make their mark and drive forward a best in class performance.

Materials Recycling Facilities (MRFs) process large volumes of municipal, commercial and industrial dry mixed materials to produce a range of high quality recyclable outputs. A combination of advanced mechanical sorting techniques and manual quality control is used to separate the materials so that they can be reprocessed into new products. The technologies we use at our ‘next generation’ MRFs are now so sophisticated that we are able to recycle over 95% of the materials that go through the plants.

Our Milton Keynes MRF requires a talented Mechanical Maintenance Technician (MT(T)) who will plan, organise and undertake corrective and reactive work, and be responsible for delivering improvement projects leading to increased plant reliability and cost reduction. Working in a small but crucial team of engineers, reporting to the Maintenance Manager, the Maintenance Technician will ensure delivery of the Planned Maintenance schedules, maximising equipment availability and performance whist still achieving output level required to meet production demands.

The site can operate 24/7 and the role will involve working shifts on a rota basis.

Our ideal Mechanical Maintenance Technician will have:

  • A demonstrable track record of maintaining and improving the mechanical workings of a facility or large manufacturing operation
  • Exposure to an industry with a large-scale process where output and reliability is a priority
  • A background in contributing to problem solving workshops, providing engineering expertise to identify root causes or failure
  • A good understanding of stock control, risk assessments and condition reports
  • A strong no compromise approach to health and safety
  • Preferably ONC / HNC, City & Guilds, NVQ3 or equivalent in a relevant mechanical or fabrication engineering discipline
  • Full driving license

At Viridor, we offer a competitive salary as well as excellent benefits including our pension scheme, healthcare, free eye test and safety eyewear where required alongside a number of flexible benefits.
