Apprentice Mechanical Engineer - Bargeddie

Our new Apprentice Mechanical Engineer will assist with delivering the Planned Maintenance (PM) schedules as defined by the site maintenance plans, working to a high standard and in a cost-effective manner, whilst also assisting with the planning, organising and undertaking of corrective and reactive work. You'll be responsible for delivering improvement projects leading to increased plant reliability and cost reduction and ensure that all mechanical repairs and maintenance work is carried out with the highest regard to safety. Additionally, at all times the Apprentice Mechanical Engineer will comply with Company Standards and Statutory Regulations.

In addition, you'll undertake assessments of malfunctioning equipment and provide advice to the site management team to assist and influence decision making. Contribution towards problem solving workshops will also be part of your role, providing engineering expertise to identify root causes of failures and subsequent improvement actions.

With a positive can-do attitude, a willingness to learn and demonstrable commitment to the Apprenticeship Scheme, we will provide full support and training to become a highly skilled Mechanical Engineer.

The IdealApprentice Mechanical Engineer:

We’re looking for someone who has an interest in engineering, and you’ll have, or expect to achieve, five National Qualifications which must include English, Maths, and a Science at Grade C/5 or above, as well as two further National 5 subjects at Grade C or above (preferably one being a Technical Subject i.e. Craft & Design). Highers would also be an advantage. You’ll also have a good standard of IT skills and/or Microsoft Office knowledge.
