Job Title: Chef
Salary: Competitive DOE / Guaranteed 40 hours per week

An exciting opportunity has arisen in a small, family friendly country pub for a full time Chef. Excellent working conditions with a strong and friendly team. We are open for food service 7 days a week from Midday - 8.30pm except Sundays where we offer food from Midday - 4.30pm.

The suitable candidate must be able to work on their own during slow times and work as team during evening and busy periods. We're looking for someone who can create good home cooked food and create a weekly specials board and perhaps add a twist to the traditional standard menu. Uniforms will be supplied as well as being trained on our current menu.

Chef Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Overseeing a busy kitchen by managing other members of the food preparation team
  • Deciding which dishes to serve and adjusting orders to meet guests' requests
  • Assist in prep work, such as chopping vegetables
  • Responsible for designing a seasonal specials board
  • Cooks guests' orders according to their preferences
  • Selects choice ingredients that will give dishes the best flavour
  • Employs food safety best practices and makes sure that all kitchen staff members do the same
  • Act with appropriate caution in a dangerous environment where there are knives and high-temperature surfaces
  • Experiments to come up with new specialties that will draw diners into the restaurant
  • Coaches other members of the kitchen staff, so they perform at their best
  • Determines how much food to order and maintains an appropriate supply at the restaurant
  • Keeps up with trends in cooking and the restaurant business to ensure that guests have a positive experience
  • Works quickly and accurately during busy periods, such as weekends and evenings
  • Other duties, such as cleaning, when the kitchen is short-staffed, or the restaurant is particularly busy
  • Takes direction and works with the restaurant's manager
  • Creating unique dishes that inspire guests to come back again and again to see what is new in the restaurant.


Chef Skills and Qualifications Required:

Training in Culinary Arts, Experience, Works Quickly, Physical Stamina, Creative Flair, Flexible Schedule, Strong Communication, Organisational Skills, Team Mentality, Leadership Skills, must be able to work on their own and have own transport.
