We are looking for a LIFTING ENGINEER to act as representative to the Construction Manager for all lifting operations on the project and to ensure all Crane and lift plans are developed in a manner which ensures the lifting operations are carried out within a safe system of work.

The successful Candidate will demonstrate exemplary HSSE behaviours and ensure HSSE safe working practices and procedures are strictly adhered to.

Accountable for Safety and implementing Project Standards.

Participate in and support project safety plans, policies and procedures and project planning stage risk assessments.

Development and delivery of the Lifting input for the Project into the Construction Work Packs in line with the delivery schedule.

Ensure Lifting information within the Construction Work Packs fully meet Project and quality expectations.

Ensure all lift plans are developed in compliance with LOLER and Client lifting procedures.

Identify capabilities of different types of crane or machines used for lifting and their limitations for lifting operations.

Categorizing the lifting operation and recording the lift plan number in the work pack.

Carry out technical review of lift plans developed by any 3rd party specialist vendors and /or contractors.

Assess the selection of lifting equipment to ensure it is suitable and adequate for the lifting operation in hand.

Carry out lifting operations specific desk top task risk assessments ensuring adequate controls are in place to reduce risk to ALARP.

Support the development of a suitable and competent work force capable of the safe execution of lifting operations.

Maintain project procedures to align with the current legislative requirements and communicate to the project lifting community.

Provide Craneage, lifting and hoisting expertise at project constructability meetings.

Provide support to other trades/disciplines where required and form part of an integrated multi-discipline team.

To support the JV Discipline Team Construction Engineers in the execution of their duties ensuring adequate manpower and plant is available in accordance with agreed programmes and schedules.

Distribution of programmed work package to front line supervision.

Organisation of plant/vehicle movements.

Control of labour discipline.

Responsible for front line supervision reporting/allocation of manpower.

Co-ordination of lifting and 3rd Part Inspection sub-contractors.

Permit to work requirements.

Ensuring all document/drawings are of the correct issue during installation activities.

Distribution of programmed work package to front line supervision.


QUALIFICATIONS

Relevant experience within the Construction, lifting and engineering industry
Working within an Construction/Installation engineering department (2+ years post graduate)

Significant on-site experience

Knowledge of the heavy lift / transport sector

Ability to perform structural calculations

Minimum HNC in a related Engineering discipline (structural, mechanical, civil)

IOSH Managing Safely Certificate

Risk Assessment Training

CPCS Appointed Person


The successful Candidate must be eligible for security clearance which is essential for this role.

Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word and Excel are required.

AutoCAD experience preferred.

Project Planning Software (desirable but not essential).
