A fantastic opportunity now exists to join a global engineering business who design, manufacture and service systems and components for the world's leading aircraft, vehicle and machinery manufacturers.
Established more than 250 years ago and operating in more than 30 countries, my client is looking for a Head of Operations to be based at their site in Portsmouth.

Job Description:

Reporting to the General Manager, the Head of Operations is responsible for the effective management of the Portsmouth Manufacturing Operations. You will have 4 direct reports with a total managed headcount of approximately 100.

Main Responsibilities:

Champion and embed the company's manufacturing operating system as a way of working into all value streams, and to drive excellence within GOLD reporting system (Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost & Inventory)
Perform an integral role in the Sales, Inventory and Operations (SIOP) management process to ensure adequate resources and capacity are maintained across all manufacturing functions
Support the requirements definition and installation of capital equipment to support SIOP and long range strategic plans
Champion lean deployment across the operations team to drive a continuous improvement culture.
Ensure behavioural standards are established, understood, communicated and consistently enforced.
Ensure that all employees are fully conversant and compliant with the Company's Health and Safety Policies. Ensure that all relevant Health and Safety legislation is effectively implemented and managed
To coach and develop the Operations Team to drive excellence in operational accountability and performance

Skills and Qualifications:

Degree qualified is desirable
Experience of running a small to medium sized manufacturing operation/ unit and driving key metrics such as quality, cost, delivery, health and safety and scrap reduction
Exposure to an aerospace or automotive manufacturing environment
Lean Manufacturing experience is desirable
Excellent Written and Spoken English is essential
Travel Requirement to other sites as required
You must be eligible to apply for SC clearance and, therefore, must hold a British passport and have lived and worked in the UK for the past 5 years
