Recruiting for an Environmental Manager to work for a leading, asset maintenance company, operating in the UK support services and infrastructure sectors.

The client is offering either perm or contract depending on personal preference.

Role based in Water Orton, Birmingham.

As part of the Project Team, the Environmental Manager will provide advice to identify environmental issues and develop environmental solutions ensuring that environmental sustainability issues continue to be embedded as an integral part of the project design in accordance with the client.

MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsible for all matters relating to the environment and ensuring communication with the project team. Produce Environmental Management Plans, SWMP, Environmentally related risk assessments & method statements

Liaison with the Cadent environmental representatives, third parties, regulatory bodies, advising on on-going environmental training, and reviewing the EMS in the context of audit / inspection findings and instigating appropriate actions.

Ensure full compliance with the client through the construction code of practice, information paper and consent management (schedules) requirements of the act.

Undertaking environmental site audits and inspections, to ensure compliance with the PEMP, LEMPs, Procedures, Risk Assessments & Method Statements.

Compile monthly environmental and sustainability statistics for Project Manager for inclusion in monthly reports

Development of pollution control and emergency response plans, including provision of adequate pollution control equipment. On-site advice, reporting and investigation of all environmental incidents.

Establishment of appropriate arrangements for the storage, disposal and recycling / re-use of waste.

To oversee and monitor topsoil and subsoil stripping, handling, storage and replacement and delegate where necessary

Appoint & manage specialist contractors; review and critically appraise subcontractor packages ensuring value for money. Ensure compliance with contractual commitments and safe systems of work.

Work collaboratively with the engineering department & other technical specialists to identify and address environmental constraints.

Providing advice, support, guidance, training and ongoing environmental communications to the workforce to ensure compliance and continual personal development

Ensure full audit trail of key decisions and compliant data management to enable sustainability reporting, audit and inspection requirements to ensure robust records, efficient handling of enquiries (including RFI & EWN) and to ensure that statutory requirements are met.

Provide support to the SHE advisor where necessary to ensure continual personnel development.
