Description:

Our Client requires a Project Manager and Capture Team Lead to lead the capture of maritime autonomous bids and, following successful capture of Work Packages, transition into the role of Project Manager for Maritime Autonomy and execute these tasks in support of the Autonomous strategy.

In addition to the main task of Maritime Autonomy CTL/PM, the role is also required to provide Systems and Project Engineering support to other programmes concurrent with the Autonomous System core task.

This Project Manager role is required to:

  • Lead and manage Maritime projects and trials within the portfolio of Autonomous Systems projects
  • Manage and develop customer relationships for Autonomous Maritime Systems programmes
  • Assist Global Sales and Marketing in the development and success of Autonomous Maritime Systems campaigns
  • Monitor organizational financial and schedule metrics to support budgetary planning and to determine corrective action to maintain target performance levels 
  • Work with the team to develop robust financial forecasts

Responsibilities:

  • The ideal candidate will already be familiar with a wide range of specialized process tools, and materials, including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, SharePoint or industry recognised systems to manage risks, issues & opportunities, contracts, change processing and estimating.
  • Lead others and direct all phases of assigned projects demonstrating proficiency in all project management areas in accordance with accepted project management standards in the industry (e.g., PMI, Project Management Body of Knowledge [PMBOK], ANSI, and ISO standards).
  • Identify key stakeholder project specific objectives and requirements including Customer and Supplier dependencies. Develop solutions to complex problems that require ingenuity and innovation.
  • Facilitate or lead others in facilitating negotiations involving major project parameters such as deliverable definition and performance objectives (e.g., cost, schedule, quality).
  • Be responsible for achieving cost and schedule targets on assigned projects and delivery of products that meet Company and contractual requirements including those for 1st time quality and safety.
  • Develop project plans and define deliverables that meet identified requirements, and Customer expectations.
  • Identify and manage project risks, issues and opportunities.
  • Establish and manage project baselines; participate in programme change boards.
  • Manage all assigned resources including people, facilities, budgets and schedules to meet performance requirements and commitments.
  • Develop and present workarounds, recovery plans and change proposals as necessary to keep the projects on track.
  • Report project status and performance metrics to program leadership team and Customer.
  • Work with the Customer to proactively identify additional opportunities, and ways to improve levels of service.
  • Lead proposal development in support of additional work scope and manage pre-award performance to budget.

General Competencies:

  • Project Management - thorough knowledge and proficiency in all project management areas in accordance with Defence Industry project management standards.
  • Project Lifecycle knowledge - sound knowledge of the Project Lifecycle from requirements definition, proposal preparation and negotiation and project implementation through to completion.
