About the Company:

Aeropeople are currently recruiting for a Senior Project Controller to be based at RAF Brize Norton, Oxfordshire.

Reporting to the Programmes Director, the purpose of this role is to support and challenge the Project Managers and to define Best Practice in project reporting. Major Programmes will expect the Senior Project Controller to define 'what good looks like' in terms of toolset and data required to provide accurate and consistent project reporting metrics.
The Senior Project Controller will play a key role in the active development of an effective project delivery environment, promoting best practice in project management and culture within the company. The Senior Project Controller will also help to build a suite of tools and templates which will provide a framework within which the rest of the business can deliver smaller changes and projects.


Job Description:

Take personal ownership for reporting key metrics on allocated projects, ensuring delivery of this reporting to a regular monthly drumbeat and meeting ad hoc reporting requirements.
Ensure that the assigned projects are reported on in line with programme/ project reporting, contract requirements and risk management processes
Creation of project reporting templates for use by the programmes team, including risks, issues, requirements, resources, products & performance on projects.
Earned value (cost & schedule) data gathering and reporting.
Ensure that appropriate disciplines are maintained within the business to identify and manage project risks.
Audit project risk registers against the company risk management procedure to ensure optimized risk management.
Establish and manage key performance metrics and reporting measures for operational, project and risk management activities related to assigned Projects
Travel to customer, Primary Sub-Contractors or supplier facilities in support of Project meetings as required.
Support the Head of Programmes in the delivery of a project management training programme for nominated people from across the company to promote strong project management skills, capability and culture within.
Support the Head of Programmes in all aspects of Programme, Project, Project controls and risk management

Skills and Qualifications:

ESSENTIAL:
Relevant degree, HNC or equivalent experience.
Experience of project controls & reporting for large/ complex projects.
Track record of working with Project Managers to improve detail, information capture and accuracy of project metrics reporting.
Experience of developing and using project reporting tools & procedures.
Significant experience of working in cross functional projects with multi-discipline teams.
Sound understanding of project financial reporting, including P&L, target, actual and forecast cost reporting.
Track record of managing and reporting on risks, issues, requirements, resources, products & performance on projects.
Experience of earned value (cost & schedule) data gathering and reporting.
Advanced user of industry standard tools in the context of project management (MS Project, MS Excel, MS Visio).
Holds a current industry recognised project management certification (e.g. APM, Prince 2).
Current Security Clearance (SC), or no known impediments to obtaining security clearance.
Ability to communicate effectively both in writing and verbally.
Strong inter-personal skills with a collaborative approach to teamworking.
Proactive, hands-on approach, self-starter that is able to take the initiative.
Excellent meeting management skills.

DESIRABLE:
APM PFQ & PMQ Qualifications or equivalent.
Experience of development and implementation of project and programme management systems or tools for large/ complex projects.
Experience of interfacing and collaborating with MOD and a complex supply chain and stakeholder structure.
Aviation and Defence industry experience would be an advantage.
Exposure to a broad range of COTS Business Information Systems.
