Our client a leading Oil & Gas Operator is seeking a Contracts Specialist for a contract opportunity covering Maternity cover based in Aberdeen.

Position Overview

The Contracting Specialist will be part of a team tasked with the delivery of selected projects through all project stages (Appraise to Execute) on behalf of the asset. The Contracting Specialist role will be to facilitate & then manage a suite of contracts within the projects team and will therefore take responsibility for all stages of the contracting process from requests for information, market engagement & strategy development through to tendering, contract award & performance management, with full engagement from key business stakeholders. The Contracting Specialist will be expected to contribute significantly towards continuous improvement within the asset group & associated function.

Accountabilities


Interface with other Contracting Specialists to capitalise on any opportunities for commercial synergies and cost
Interface with the Commercial Auditor to ensure that the usability of the final contract is optimised
Ensure that they follow the companies contracting process and good SCM practice to optimise value and protect the business
Support of Federal contracts and agreements - looks for opportunities for synergies and to add value across assets /divisions
Ensures that they plan their workload to deliver the companies contracting plan

Key Duties

Provide commercial support to internal and external stakeholders in all aspects of contracting for materials and services
Develop strategy, tender, analyse, negotiate and award contracts to align with Supply Chain strategy and operational requirements ensuring that a full audit trail of contracting activities is maintained in the SCM systems.
Contribute significantly to safety and operational efficiencies, including the OPEX and CAPEX costs
Assist with the compilation of meaningful statistics to ensure that they can maintain the Contractual records
Assess contractual, financial and liability risk to the company.
Ensure all key contracts encourage positive behaviour, both internally and externally, that will help support robust contract delivery and performance attainment.
Meet regularly with key contractors to ensure the Company needs are being met, that strategic value of the relationships are being realised and that the Company is meeting its obligations to the contractor to help position the contract for success.
Encourage new initiatives that improve productivity and/or help lower total costs of business.
Ensure that cost, quality and schedule are managed consistent with Company contract and procurement policies and procedures
Contribute to the development and implementation of a contract/call-off spend report mechanism

Education Attainment & Accreditation

HND in Business, Finance or Law or suitable equivalent experience through on the job training and development
Post Graduate Diploma or Masters Degree in Supply Chain Management or Commercial Law
Working towards or fully qualified Member of the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (CIPS)

Professional skills & Experience

Experience of SCM operations in the Oil & Gas Industry preferably with an Operator or Tier 1 Contractor
Experience of Supply Chain Management in the UKCS with a good understanding of the marketplace, and contracting landscape
Experience with Strategic Sourcing, Category Management and Performance Management
Experience with ERP/EAMS systems (specifically Maximo) and other associated SCM systems
Experience of building good internal relations and being seen as a proactive player are critical to success
Ability to work with established processes and guidelines but also continually look at areas for improvement.
Must have experience in a Contract Specialist role or have other procurement experience and contractual knowledge within a competent major procurement operation
Must demonstrate exemplary commitment to good HS&E practice
