Deputy Resource Controller – Hampshire County Council Contract

Your new role

As a Deputy Resource Controller, you will be an integral and flexible member of the HCC Resourcing and Logistical team by deputising for the Resource Controller, covering resource planning and administrative tasks, and when not covering this role performing the Operations Centre Operative role (OCO).

Your responsibilities will also include:

  • Ensuring that repair appointments are efficiently and effectively resourced and managed
  • Understand the appointment demand for the period you are deputising.  Planning and delivering the service by sending the right operatives and sub-contractors, ensuring operatives and sub-contractors arrive on time and in the most cost-effective manner.
  • Allocating the right operatives, based on skills, availability and locality to the jobs that are nearing completion to ensure we meet appointment times/response times and minimise travel and downtime.
  • Manage the Operatives availability on a daily basis.
  • Ensure issues are being captured on the issues log and feed back to the Resource Controller.
  • Highlight issues and trends to Working Foreman and Supervisors in relation to the quality of workmanship, or task productivity where the expected demonstrated time for the trade and task has been exceeded.
  • Assisting the resource controller in coaching and developing the team.
  • Raising new jobs ensuring they are the correct priority and budget code and schedule convenient appointments for the customer using the Appointment Tracker as a guide to our capability.
  • Allocating the right tradesmen based on skills, availability and locality to the jobs
  • Undertaking customer satisfaction surveys on completion of the works and highlight any areas of improvement required to the Resource Controller

What you will need to succeed as a Deputy Resource Controller… 

As our ideal Deputy Resource Controller, you will be able to demonstrate the following skills and experience:

  • Basic knowledge of building maintenance trades and the tasks/activities that can be undertaken be each trade group. (Essential)
  • Basic understanding of the Geographical East Hampshire area.
  • Experience working in a Call Centre (Desirable) 
  • GCSE or equivalent grade C or above in Maths and English. (Desirable)
  • NVQ 3/BTEC or equivalent in Business Administration/Studies or Customer Services (Desirable)
  • Full clean driving licence. (Essential)
  • Be effective in communicating with clients and in house teams to build professional and lasting relationships
  • Able to organise, prioritise and schedule jobs to meet appointments by planning into the future
  • Proficient in using MS Office applications and Job Management Systems.
