We have an exciting opportunity for a MAINTENANCE ELECTRICIAN (Shifts) based at Harwell.

Initially a Contract role until security clearance is in place, then will be permanent.

The main purpose of this role is to provide safe and efficient installation, maintenance and breakdown service on electrical systems within an assigned area over a shift cycle


The successful Candidate will:

Carry out routine maintenance tasks as directed by the Shift Engineer and Maintenance Manager

Undertake preventative planned maintenance activities as directed and in accordance with facility maintenance instructions

Undertake corrective works where identified, including assistance with internal projects as appropriate

Electrical installation activities in accordance with the design provided and IET Wiring Regulations

Respond to breakdowns and work with operations to ensure that maintenance and corrective works are completed safely and in a timely manner

Undertake operations as an operator, which will involve operating computer controlled plant, mechanical assembly, keeping accurate records, mechanical and remote handling, and wearing a variety of protective clothing

Assist with ongoing reviews of Facility maintenance documentation

Assist with the supervision of contractor activities within the facilities

Achieve and maintain Nominated Person (Electrical) status

Experience in a heavy industrial background essential, experienced in fault finding
and must have 18th Edition.


As a Maintenance Electrician the following Authorisation will be required and all training to meet this

AI 249 NP Electrical

Authorisations that may be required for this role are

AI 243 MEWP Operator
AI 279 Task Supervisor Nuclear Cat Facility


QUALIFICATIONS AND TRAINING

Time served electrical apprenticeship is essential
Appropriate technical qualifications e.g. City & Guilds, BTEC, NVQ level 3 or equivalent
BS7671 IET Wiring Regulations - latest Edition
IOSH Working Safely


ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE

Experience of electrical maintenance activities, general distribution and installation requirements.
Knowledge and experience of Electrical Systems
Knowledge and experience of instrumentation, inverters, control systems
Knowledge of Electricity at work Regulations
Able to use protective clothing and equipment, including but not limited to RPE, Arc Flash, Electrical
An awareness of safe working practices
