Our client a leading Oil & Gas operator are seeking a Process Safety Advisor for a Permanent opportunity based in Aberdeen.

Position Overview

The Asset Support Safety Engineer will perform the day to day tasks to support safety engineering activity across the assets.

Accountabilities

Maintain a thorough understanding of relevant regulations, company procedures and best practice
Work proactively with the onshore and offshore teams to provide timely and accurate safety engineering and process safety advice
Support & promote the technical and process safety element of the SEMS across the business
Actively seek areas for safety engineering and process safety improvement and develop sustainable efficient solutions
Follow and comply with company Golden Rules, Procedures, & Policies and hold others to account to do the same

Key Duties

Provide safety engineering and process safety related information, advice, training and support
Monitor, maintain, review and develop Technical and Process Safety processes and procedures
Participate in Process Safety related incident investigation so that lessons can be learnt and are effectively communicated across other sites and groups
Safety Engineering and process safety focal point for specific site(s) to promote the use of Key processes which support prevention of Major Accident Hazards
Support and participate in technical and SEMS audits
Provide oversight on all activities which impact on Major Accident Hazards
Provide technical input for COMAH and Safety Case Management
Act as focal point in facilitating and coordinating HAZIDs, Risk Assessments, P&ID reviews, ALARP studies, Major Accident Hazard Screening ensure that standards for screening / assessment are maintained.
SCRA/ORA review and input (some require extensive Process Safety Engineer(PSE) input and facilitation of RAs and TNs to demonstrate legislative compliance to support decisions) we are responsible for 19 Performance Standards and provide input to the TAs
Ops support, providing Technical and Process Safety justification for continued operations where appropriate
Provide Technical and Process Safety support for management of change process, including review of AFA's, TQ's, P Forms, and WMS deferrals
Preparation of technical notes to ensure compliance with Legislative requirements and provide technical justification to resolve Technical and Process safety related issues
Liaison with the ICP to resolve actions raised at periodic verification visits
Chair and where required participate in HAZIDs, P&ID reviews, Risk Assessments (Hot Work Naked Flame assessments, Shutdown scopes, Non-standard mechanical isolation reviews, AFA scopes, input to Wells RAs
Support Regulator visits to sites for Technical and Process Safety focus
Review of changes to be made to the Safety Case and COMAH Safety Report Provide Technical and Process Safety input into responses to the regulator where required
Project Technical and Process Safety support
Prepare and support Safety Case amendments, Material Changes and Combined Operations Notifications submissions
Plan, participate and support Safety Case Thorough Review and COMAH Safety Report reviews
Participate in design and construction reviews, HIRAs, PSA's, star-up readiness reviews
Record, measure and trend analysis of process safety performance in line with KPI's
Provide Technical and Process Safety input into safety alerts, bulletins and lesson learned where applicable
Act as delegate for Technical and Process Safety Technical Authority when required having completed the Technical Authority appointment assessment
Fulfil role of out of hours contact as required

Education Attainment & Accreditation

Relevant engineering degree or equivalent risk management qualification with considerable technical experience in a similar role
Post graduate qualification or equivalent in Safety and Reliability Engineering preferred

Professional Skills & Experience

Well rounded work experience preferred, with significant direct experience in either oil & gas operations or onshore support role closely linked to oil & gas operations
Previous experience as a technical safety professional in the oil and gas industry
Knowledge and understanding of the UK regulatory regime
