Position Overview

The Asset Instrument Engineer works within the Asset Team and has a functional home within Maintenance Technical Services Department. Will provide expert discipline advice and expertise to offshore and onshore teams to ensure world class maintenance performance in order to comply with the client's business objectives of producing Hydrocarbons in a safe and cost effective manner. Carry out all work in accordance with the client's UK Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality systems.

Accountabilities

· Ensure all maintenance activities are carried out in compliance with the client's Maintenance Philosophy, UK Safety, Environmental & Quality systems and other UK statutory legislation, British Standards and Codes of Practice.

· Continually review effectiveness of working practices and systems to increase Reliability / Availability of discipline equipment

· Provide support on discipline maintenance and certification activities

· Ensure that all discipline activities are input into the CMMS (Computerised Maintenance Management System) and then related with the Integrated Activity Plan

· Ensure Cost Efficient management of vendor support - appropriately allocated to deliver value to the operation

Key Duties

Maintenance & Reliability

· Actively work to comply with Asset Preventive Master Plan to reduce and manage a minimal maintenance backlog

· Review and approval of Maintenance Change Requests as required

· Responsible for defining and reviewing the criticality of the discipline equipment and developing BOM (Bill of materials)

· Ensure that all discipline maintenance records and plant history are updated using CMMS

· Ensure that all purchase orders and spare parts replenishment is managed against a Work Order

· Periodic audit/review of maintenance activities and records to ensure process compliance and satisfactory quality completion

· Assure critical spares availability in the event of failure in critical production path in accordance with maintenance master plan

· Continuously review and manage equipment lifecycle and obsolescence

· Follow up the discipline equipment failure rate identifying the causes and taking actions to improve reliability

· Engaging and feeding improvement with strategies and procedure updates of the the client's maintenance process

· Support the Asset team in PLE management including timely closeout of actions and in the production of 5-Why documentation in the immediate failures of equipment giving input into reliability reviews.

· Participate in Onshore Root Cause Failure Analysis assessments in the wake of production critical and safety critical equipment failures

· Ensure all discipline Shutdown related activities are fully prepared with the correct materials in place and prioritised with the WO shutdown coding in the CMMS, ensuring maximum shutdown efficiency

· Have good general knowledge of instrument engineering principles associated with upstream oil & gas processing, including (but not limited to): HAZOP, HAZID, SIL, Solid State Logic Solvers, Programmable Logic Solvers, Fire & Gas Detection Methods, Field Instrumentation, Data Buses, DCS/SCADA, Software Management Design (IEC 61131), Control Strategies, Control Loop Optimization, Control Valves (Selection/Performance/Monitoring /Maintenance), EX Equipment/EX Certification/ATEX, Subsea Control Systems, compressor controls, HPU's and Hydraulic Controls, Instrument Air Systems, Valve Actuation (Hydraulic/Pneumatic/Electric), Metering Systems (Fiscal/Flare/Allocation),FAT & SAT process

Education Attainment & Accreditation

  • Degree qualified (or equivalent) in an Instrument/Control engineering discipline

Professional Skills & Experience

  • Previous offshore maintenance and operations experience within the oil and gas industry preferred
