We are set to open the UK’s largest multi polymer plastic recycling plant in Avonmouth near Bristol and are currently seeking 4 Production Shift Managers to lead our production teams on a 4 on 4 off shift pattern.

Our new world class facility is expected to process 81,000 tonnes of PET, HDPE and PP plastic bottles, pots, tubs and trays in its first year of operation, rising to 89,000 tonnes in year three. This will produce 60,000 tonnes of recycled plastic in year one, rising to 63,000 tonnes in year three.

As a Production Shift Manager, you will competently manage the operational activities at the site and ensure that they are carried out in a safe, professional, economical and timely manner.

Working closely with the Quality team, the Production Shift Manager will ensure that all material received and despatched from site meet with the relevant standards and is done is in accordance with site permits, working plans, compliant procedures and legislative controls, therefore providing the correct quality of end product for our customers.

Under the direction of the Production Manager, you will implement and drive a continuous improvement culture and this will be at the heart of everything you do to maximise safety, compliance and productivity, whilst minimising downtime and interruption to recycling and recovery rates.

The ability to communicate and build relationships at all levels is key to this role as you will be liaising with Viridor Resource Management, internal Viridor Stakeholders as well as external agencies. You will motivate and drive a positive culture within the production teams, as well as dealing with all issues relating to people management so previous experience of first line management is essential part of this role.

Our ideal ProductionShift Manager will have:

  • Experience of managing a processing facility.
  • Lean Manufacturing experience.
  • Good knowledge of H&S regulation and safe systems of work
  • Strong leadership skills to lead the production teams in a start-up scenario, with an ability to manage and develop their teams effectively.
  • A good knowledge of relevant legislation that relates to the operation of a recycling or manufacturing facility.
  • Technical production/process related qualifications such as BTEC, NVQs and relevant experiences
  • Full, current driving license
