Mechanical Maintenance Technician – Avonmouth, Bristol

We are set to open the UK’s largest multi polymer plastic recycling plant in Avonmouth near Bristol and we are looking for 4 Mechanical Maintenance Technicians to join our new team, on a 4 on 4 off shift pattern to include nights

Our new world class facility is expected to process 81,000 tonnes of PET, HDPE and PP plastic bottles, pots, tubs and trays in its first year of operation, rising to 89,000 tonnes in year three. This will produce 60,000 tonnes of recycled plastic in year one, rising to 63,000 tonnes in year three.

As a Mechanical Maintenance Technician, you will be responsible for delivering the Planned Maintenance (PM) schedules as defined by the site maintenance plans, working to a high standard and in a cost effective manner. You will also be responsible for planning, organising and undertaking corrective and reactive work and be responsible for delivering improvement projects leading to increased plant reliability and cost reduction.

You will have experience of working within a processing or manufacturing and have completed the relevant HNC, NVQ or City and Guilds qualifications. An awareness of Environmental, Health and Safety regulations and their impacts, along with a good understanding of proactive maintenance strategies and safe systems of work is required for this role, along with knowledge of CMMS systems, their purpose and functions, as well as electrical system and safety.

Our Mechanical Maintenance Technicians will have good communication skills, with the ability to think logically and decisively in order to provide effective engineering management solutions. Working as part of the Maintenance Team, you will build good relationships with colleagues but also be able to work on your own initiative when required

Candidates for this role must have:

  • Completed an HNC, City & Guilds or NVQ level 3 in a appropriate engineering discipline
  • Previous experience working within a processing, manufacturing or similar environment
  • Knowledge of CMMS and electrical systems.
  • Good understanding of a proactive maintenance strategy and condition monitoring
  • Experience of carrying out mechanical Maintenance on a fast pased manufacturing/production plant

You will require a full UK driving license.
