Role:

- Assist the Health & Safety Manager manage the Health & Safety function of the Health Board through the provision of expert and specialist advice on Health and Safety at an operational level.
- Assist with creating a focus for and the promotion of Health and Safety Management issues within the Health Board.
- Ensure that serious/adverse incidents are identified and through liaison with the Health & safety Manager are reported to the Health and Safety Executive under the requirements of RIDDOR.
- Assist with monitoring the activity of the Health & Safety Leads Forums of Directorates, Divisions and Corporate Departments and supporting them on safety issues.
- Assist the Health & Safety Manager with the co-ordination, production and review of relevant Policies, Protocols, Procedures and Guidelines at Directorate, Division and Corporate levels.
- Promote the implementation of agreed policy and procedure throughout the Health Board, through advice, support and delivery of training.
- Carry out Risk Assessments as directed by the Health & Safety Manager and advise Directorates, Divisions and Corporate Departments on carrying out their own risk assessments and analyse outcomes to improve service development and ensure best practice.
- Give advice and support to Directorates, Divisions and Corporate Departments to enable them to carry out their own inspections of all workplaces as appropriate within Health Board properties.
- Assist with providing support to Directorates, Divisions and Corporate Departments in the identification of their training needs, the delivery and /or commissioning of the required training as appropriate.
- Assist the Health & Safety Manager contribute to the management of the Incident reporting system, and ensure accurate timely feedback of issues emanating from incident reports.
- Review and monitor incident reports to identify where detailed investigations or follow up is required.
- Assist the Health & safety Manager to support the Investigations & Concerns Team, providing them with specialist safety advice as required.
- Assist with the development and presentation of Health and Safety training programmes including Risk Assessor Training.

About you:

- NEBOSH / IOSH or other relevant qualification
- Experience of working in an occupational health & safety role.
- Experience of carrying out risk assessments and formulating appropriate control measures.
- Experience of carrying out safety audits and inspections.
- Experience of working and engaging with staff at all levels in a high volume transactional environment
- Experience of internal and external partnership working
- Experience of using and managing information to determine priorities and demonstrate service levels
- Experience of preparing & delivering safety training courses.
