Acorn is looking to recruit Staff to work within Hospitals to support our NHS during these demanding times.
Roles and Responsibilities:
The role of the Facilities Operative is essential to the efficient running of Facilities services.
You will therefore undertake a range of specific work functions, across the Facilities service for which full training will be given.
1. Portering Services
2. Environmental Services
3. Site and Grounds maintenance
4. Receipt & Distribution
5. Traffic Management support
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
1. Portering Services
· Patient movement to various locations using beds, stretchers and wheelchairs
· Transport the deceased to the mortuary, performing the task with care and dignity
· Transport blood; blood products & specimens and medical notes
· Transport and replenish Medical Gases on wards and in gas manifold
· Transport bed linen around the site
· Drive Health Board vehicles
· Communicate clearly and concisely using a two-way radio system
2. Environmental Services
· Carry out the daily collection and disposal of all waste from the wards and departments
· Ensure recycling procedures are applied where appropriate
· Thoroughly clean the waste bins and collection cages on a rotational basis
3. Site and Grounds Maintenance
· Monitor the standard and appearance of the site grounds and car parks, litter picking at regular intervals
· Carry out regular emptying of external bins
4. Receipt & Distribution
· Checking goods received from suppliers ensuring the quantity and quality are correct
· Deliver goods to wards and departments
· Processing goods from customers that are to be returned to store/supplier
· Handling queries from wards and departments including interrogation of the IT system
· Loading and offloading stock items onto mechanical trucks ready for delivery
5. Traffic Management Support
· Control the flow and direction of traffic to maintain free access for essential and emergency vehicles Other duties maybe expected of the candidate time to time.
A current Enhanced DBS is desirable however this can and will be carried out.
Shifts are: Monday - Sunday - all hours - all shifts £8.92 p/h offered, unsociable shift allowance and overtime rates in place.
