I am currently working with my client in the insurance services sector who is on the lookout for an experienced Claims Assessor who has worked within life cover, critical illness and terminal illness.

I am looking for an incredibly customer focused claims professional, although you will have claims administrators that will take front-line calls, customer communication will be a part of the role.

Some of the duties of the role will involve:

* Understanding the Philosophy for protection claims
* Viewing each claim with an independent mind and consider them on their own merits in line with philosophy and standards
* Make sound assessment decisions by detailing thought process at each stage
* Keep the customer updated at all stages of the claims process
* Request the minimum amount of medical evidence required to make an effective decision
* Own a customer claim from start to finish
* Understanding the customer's situation, empathising and using all resources to alleviate the circumstances
* Communication with re-assurers and adherence to treaty agreements
* Preparing files in correct way for on wards transmission to reassurer
* Making relevant and suitable comments to show thought process leading to final decision/recommendation
* Identify and remove blockers to providing excellent service
* Understand the customer demand
* Improve capability to meet demand
* Understanding and documenting the Royal London claims process
* Requesting appropriate evidence from customers and doctors
* Accurate recording of claims within the claims database allowing meaningful reporting
* Understand what Management information is available and how best to use it
* Identify and raise potential improvements to the Management Information
* Ensure that appropriate data is captured to support these Management Information requirements, that it is of good quality and that any issues around this data are resolved or being actioned
* Identify and raise potential improvements
* Ensure appropriate support for implementation of changes is provided
* Identify, control and monitor all risks

You must have experience as a claims assessor within Life Cover, Critical Illness and Terminal Illness to be considered for this role and if you have experience within Income Protection then this would be beneficial.

On offer is an excellent salary of £25,000 to £38,000 depending on experience but if you would like to be considered for a Senior Claims Assessor then this can also be an option carrying a salary up to £42,000. My client also offers an enviable benefits package on top of the basic salary that can be discussed.
