Assistant Traffic Manager

Manchester

Salary - £Competitive DOE

Job purpose

To manage the running of the company's fleet, drivers and traffic team safely within the boundaries of all current transport legislation, whilst maintaining profitability and ensuring targets are met.

Key responsibilities & Accountabilities:

Ensure default jobs are allocated correctly and in a timely fashion

Ensure all jobs have correct delivery/collection method allocated and set to correct status

Ensure agency drivers are booked as and when required to cover vehicles/routes without employed drivers

To route/plan all distance vehicles including any vehicles requiring backloads

To supervise traffic planners to ensure all deliveries/collections are completed and any delays/failures are communicated in a timely fashion and recorded correctly

To supervise traffic planners to ensure daily/weekly duties are completed by agreed deadlines

To complete mentor duties by agreed deadlines including the documenting of any meetings required

Support team members

Communicate any issues that could compromise our service

Complete weekly costings for agency usage

Complete weekly wages report

Lead and advise on areas of own technical expertise

Apply knowledge and experience to positively influence operational decision making

Consistently demonstrate high levels of commercial awareness

Demonstrate good use of leadership and delegation skills

Able to work alone on own initiative and/or as part of a team

Demonstrate a good knowledge and understanding of all current transport legislation

Excellent planning + routing ability

Carry out any other duties within the scope, spirit and purpose of the job as requested by management.



Qualifications:

CPC National (Preferred but not required depending on experience)

Man management/Team building and coaching skills (Preferred but not required depending on experience)

Driving licence
