Core Technical Abilities:
Additive Manufacturing Powder Bed team. The role spans the whole value stream from powder through additive manufacturing and onto post processing. You will need a deep technical understanding of each stage and the potential effect of any changes to the integrity of parts and material produced. You will be able to plan and instigate material and mechanical testing as part of technology development programs.

Role responsibilities:
You will have the ability to form relationships with sub-contractors is key. Powder procurement, heat treatment and mechanical testing are carried out by partner organisations.

You must be able to establish good working relationships with these organisations, instructing them both verbally and in writing to carry out work to the standard that you set.

You will be able to write reports and technical documentation for internal and external customers detailing, for example, the route to manufacture of parts and the results from their analysis of mechanical testing data.

You will be able to update and create specifications and process control documents for the business to work to.

You shall act as a technical interface between the UK based Powder Bed Team and the Engines Design Organisation, based in Trollhättan, Sweden. Working collaboratively to agree requirements, assess means of compliance and, lead the necessary activities to mature the technology to meet those requirements.

You shall develop understanding of the strategic direction of their specialist field inside and outside of the company, and shall contribute to Technology Strategy within your specialist field, supporting generation of roadmaps associated with the specialist field.

You shall support robust forward planning of technical work, and you may have schedule accountability for your project(s).

You shall demonstrate a commitment to innovation and technical quality in your specialist field - leading to high quality Technology Readiness Level gates

You shall drive maturity of technologies in your specialist field, and undertake technical problem solving in your specialist field, including support with operational issues when necessary.

You should have, and shall develop and maintain long-term ecosystem & academia relationships in your specialist field for the benefit of the projects, aligned with strategic direction of the business.

You shall coach colleagues and upcoming talent in your specialist field, and you may be required to supervise students/graduates.

Essential skills:
Has a good awareness of the aero-engines industry, products, materials and applications.
Has an understanding of Powder Bed Additive Manufacturing Processes.
Has a deep understanding of aero engine materials.
Has a growing network in Aerospace or Technology areas relevant to the role, and is able to identify and engage in the development of collaboration opportunities
Has experience engaging with production teams, and is able to translate their expertise to solve problems today.

Qualifications:
Masters or PhD in Metallurgy / Material Science or similar with 4+ year's aerospace industry experience.
