Assistant Production Manager:

Job Purpose

Responsibility for production of 4000 or 6000 litre batches of inactivated FMD and Bluetongue virus antigens respecting fully Biosecurity, HSE and GMP standards.

Duties and Responsibilities

Participate in the production of inactivated FMD/BTV antigens on site fully respecting biosecurity, product quality, GMP and HSE requirements of the company and ensuring On Time in Full (OTIF) supply to the next step in the production process.

Supervision and coordination of 4 shift technicians and 1 virus seed technician in the production programme.

Collaborate with Site Management on projects/tasks to improve quality and yield.

Accurate recording, documentation and reporting of data related to the production process including quality and environmental data, finance and production data, either directly or by appropriate delegation to shift technicians.

Optimal coordination of activities of virus production area with other departments, particularly media, cells, chromatography and QC restricted area.
Collaborate with other production supervisors in the effective operation of the different departments on the site.
Organisation, training and support. Supervise and lead teams of shift and day technicians.
Adhere to HSE requirements within the Virus Production area, office areas and broader site, and have a proactive approach tot health & Safety to include the reporting of near miss, hazards and incidents.

Requirements:
Good organizational skills and able to supervise as well as work in a team and as an individual. Ability to work methodically and carefully according to tight deadlines. Substantial experience of some form of routine industrial production within a highly regulated environment. Good IT skills. General science background not essential but desirable.
