Family Company/Junior R&D Chemist/Deco Paints (Permanent)

This role would suit individuals with 1 - 2 years' experience of working within the colour sector (paints, pigments, polymers or colour matching) in a laboratory or quality control environment.

To be responsible for checking that products meet national and international quality standards.

Routine testing and inspection of raw materials and finished products in accordance with the inspection plan and all associated administration and documentation.

Responsibilities:

• To conduct routine calibration of test equipment.
• To formulate new receipts for Decorative Paints
• Assist the Quality Manager to ensure finished products are inspected according to standards and to identify defective production not suitable for release in a timely manner.
• To assist Colour Manager to achieve development laboratory objectives when required.

The Successful candidate will be willing to meet these learning objectives:

• Learn the use of injection moulding machines and apply this knowledge to prepare test specimens according to internal and international standards.
• To learn the use of test equipment and to understand their international standards in order to perform and report accurate tests on materials and finished products.
• To learn attributes of raw materials and the effects these characteristics have on finished products in order to assist Production, Quality Control Colour Technician to make formulation adjustments to meet product specifications.

Key Skills:

• Good analytical skills
• Good understanding of test equipment and methods for the polymer, ink or paint industry.
• Excellent problem-solving skills
• Good communication within the quality team and across operational departments

Education and Experience:

• Minimum Bachelor in Chemical science
• 1-2 years' experience in a laboratory environment.
