Design & Development Engineer

Our chosen business partner is working with us exclusively on this opportunity. They are a specialist manufacturer of capital equipment and are experiencing a steady period of growth due to an increase in queries from the fmcg sector. This is a really exciting time to join their engineering function after a recent management buy out and restructure.

Key Responsibilities;

Key functions of the ideal candidate for this position include:

Design of automated systems from concept to detail.
Liaison with customer (internal & external) and suppliers.
Designing new mechanisms. This could be anything from simple arrangements of machine ancillary equipment and supplies or machine guarding solutions, to complete new machine designs. Developing existing mechanisms to fit new updated design briefs.
Analysing ways to improve efficiency, reduce costs, integrate new technology, etc.
Designing machine parts and tooling mechanisms to suit specific customer requirements.
In undertaking all aspects of design work, the post holder will take into account good design practices and considerations, e.g. safety, ergonomics, design for manufacture, costing and environmental impact.

Key Requirements;

Mechanical Design qualification to at least HNC level.
2 to 5 years experience.
Detail design work.
Detail drawing to BS8888.
Design calculations.
Component & material selection.
3D CAD modelling of parts & assemblies.
Microsoft Office Applications.
Ideally competent on 3D CAD.
