Role: Commissioning Engineer - HVAC, Nuclear Steam Supply or Wastewater Treatment Systems - Hinkley 'C' Nuclear Power Station project

Location: Bristol, close to M4/M5 junction

Salary: Up to £50000/year + good benefits including 10% client pension

Start: September 2021 onwards

Commissioning Engineers with experience of commissioning on large construction projects (ideally regulated industry) required to work for a company responsible for producing the construction drawings for EDF's £20bn+ Hinkley 'C' nuclear power station project. Prior nuclear industry experience (especially EPR project) would be advantageous.

The Commissioning Engineers will be responsible for providing expert advice, answering questions and reviewing drawings to assist the client's engineers and designers in the production of the construction drawings. Duties will also include putting together / writing the commissioning instructions that will accompany the drawings when they are passed on to the construction teams.

These roles will be associated with the commissioning of the HVAC (x1), Nuclear Steam Supply (x1) and Waste Treatment (x2) Systems. Prior relevant experience within / related to these relevant areas would thus be advantageous, though other relevant experience will be considered.

Candidates should ideally have prior commissioning test experience on a nuclear site, or commissioning procedure elaboration, though this is not essential to being considered. Commissioning experience on an EPR project I&C test bay (or writing of associated procedures) would be highly advantageous.

The role will be based at the client's head office in Bristol close to the M4/M5 motorway junction.

Key Experience

  • A significant engineering experience in the power generation or process industries with heavy regulatory constraints is required. This must include the drafting of mechanical and monitoring equipment testing guidelines and procedures / instructions.
  • Functional knowledge of relevant systems (HVAC, NSSS, BNI, Waste) is expected
  • I&C logic diagrams reading and understanding are required
  • A first commissioning experience is a plus (commissioning test experience on a nuclear site, or commissioning procedure elaboration)
  • A commissioning experience on an EPR project I&C test bay (or writing of associated procedures) is also appreciated
  • Ability to propose fit-for-purpose technical solutions in their area of expertise
  • Capability of coordinating technical topics which may involve several engineering disciplines (mechanical/HVAC, electrical, I&C) and suppliers
  • Good writing skills with a focus on the drafting of test procedures and test coverage substantiation files
  • Rigour in the production and review of deliverables
  • Ability to work in a team, in an international and multicultural environment
  • Relational ease with customers and partner

This is a long-term role (10+ years, first 4-5+ years on HPC, with the opportunity of work on further UK nuclear projects, including Sizewell 'C') offering excellent future career and salary development opportunities.

For the right candidate, our client can offer a competitive salary, along with a benefits package including a 10% client pension contribution and private heathcare, combined with the opportunity to work for a highly respected company at the forefront of the UK nuclear new build industry
