An aerospace and defence organisation are looking to add an experienced Firmware Engineer to the team in Portsmouth. The successful candidate will be develop new features and performances for a Software defined radio using System-on -a-Chip technology. While they would be initially focused upon use within a single satellite communication system, it is the intent that the techniques and tech that are developed will be reused to create a product that can be sold in multiple systems.
The Successful Firmware Engineer will have the following Responsibilities:
- Design, implement and test the firmware elements of a product in response to requirements set by the systems team
- Resolve technical needs, supporting the integration of this product into systems
- Focus on embedded firmware (though we are willing to bring you up-to-speed if you have a willingness to learn this skill)
Very occasional travel within the UK and worldwide.
The successful Firmware Engineer should have the following skills
- Comfortable designing, implementing and documenting Firmware to customer needs
- Strong knowledge of Xilinx FPGA technologies (including Vivado) and VHDL design lifecycle
- Understanding of Matlab, Simulink of SysML or UML
- Understanding or knowledge of working in an Agile or Scrum environment would be beneficial
WE SEEK AN ENGINEER WHO HAS IDEALY WORKED IN A MILITARY / DEFENCE ENVIRONMENT / INDUSTRY WITHIN THE LAST 12 MONTHS OR WHO IS CAPABLE OF OBTAINING SECURITY CLEARANCE (SC LEVEL MINIMUM)
