Responsibilities:

Providing the support necessary to ensure that the Company provides a healthy and safe working environment for its employees, and complies with all applicable Health and Safety legislation, predominately focusing on the office environment (around 100 heads).

To create and maintain appropriate and up-to-date Health and Safety-related documentation including Risk Assessments and Safe Working Procedures

  • To undertake risk assessments
  • To identify and report hazards
  • To investigate and report near-misses and accidents
  • To ensure that RIDDOR requirements are met
  • To create and maintain appropriate Health and Safety KPIs
  • To undertake basic in-house Health and Safety training
  • To liaise with the relevant external organisations
  • To raise concerns with the Warehouse Manager, Driver Compliance Manager and, if applicable, the Directors, on Health and Safety matters
  • To ensure that Fire Safety tests are conducted regularly
  • To ensure that the appropriate PPE is issued and maintained
  • To work closely with the Warehouse Manager and Driver Compliance Manager regarding the Health and Safety
  • To review and update the Company's Health and Safety related policies on a regular basis
  • To inform the management of any updates in Health and Safety legislation which may impact the Company
  • To ensure that all Health and Safety related administration is accurate and up to date including all documentation, spreadsheets and filing systems
  • To ensure that the appropriate Health and Safety information is provided for new starters
  • To ensure that facilities, machinery, and safety equipment is inspected regularly to correct potential hazards, and to ensure compliance

Requirements

  • Experience as an health and safety officer is essential
  • Familiar with H&S related standards and guidelines in the UK
  • Experience updating and implementation of policy and procedures
  • A proactive, "can-do" attitude
  • Excellent attention to detail, and accurate record-keeping
  • IOSH/NEBOSH trained/qualified (essential)
  • First Aid Trained - would be advantageous
  • Good communicator both written and verbal

The Role

  • £35,000 - £38,000 dependant on experience
  • 20 days + BH (Use 3 days for Christmas closure)
  • 9AM - 5PM
  • Free on-site parking
