Senior Ecologist (Contract)
We are currently recruiting for a Senior Ecologist for our client to be based in Bristol / Cardiff areas.
Role Responsibilities may include:
Organising, carrying out and supervising desk- and field-based habitat and species surveys (which may require stays away from home, assisting other offices and unsocial survey hours at times);
Co-ordination of field and office-based work;
Managing and mentoring of junior staff;
Development of monitoring strategies;
Provide specialist input to multi-disciplinary teams;
Writing and reviewing ecological assessments, reports and other deliverables;
Managing the technical and financial performance of ecological projects; and
Liaising with clients, project managers and other project stakeholders including statutory bodies.
Minimum Requirements
Experience of working in an ecology-related job role in the public and / or private sector;
Experience of designing, co-ordinating and leading field surveys;
Excellent knowledge of UK and EC wildlife legislation and policy, as well as Ecological Impact Assessment (EcIA);
Experience of Phase 1 Habitat and protected species surveys and licensing;
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, in particular, the ability to write concise technical reports;
Proven ability to work closely and collaboratively with colleagues and clients, as well as to manage own time;
Electronic data capture, analysis and presentation; and
Adaptable and flexible approach to work to meet peaks in demands (as all roles are likely to involve occasional longer/and or unsociable hours and a degree of working away from home for days/ weeks at a time). Have demonstrable experience in producing a range of reports and providing ecological advice to clients and stakeholders.
