Our client designs and manufactures speciality polymer solutions, chemical blends and adhesives primarily for paper and associated industries at our UK plant.

As a Regulatory affairs specialist , the main tasks are: be responsible to monitor UK chemical legislation, inform internally about changes, and adapt to new requirements in a responsible way; validate and approve new and adapted products, to ensure that the company complies with applicable chemical legislation and company Guidelines; provide good service to customers regarding product safety aspects, as agreed with ERA.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor, communicate, and ensure compliance with UK legislation (including CLP, BPR and REACH). Stay up to date and comply with EU legislation. Where applicable, also adapt to national chemical legislation in other countries.
  • Approve new and adapted products from a product safety regulatory perspective.
  • Classify products, generate and update safety data sheets and labels, for newly developed and adapted products in accordance with current legislation.
  • In agreement and collaboration with ERA, answer internal and external customer requests concerning the composition of the products and their product safety, health and environmental profile. Specifically for certain tissue products, confirm compliance to the cosmetic regulation.
  • Have direct contact with UK suppliers' departments for environmental and product safety, to support in the data collection of raw material product safety information.
  • Contribute to internal R&D projects. Act as a support and control function in the R&D work regarding the health and environmental profile of raw materials and products. Collaborate with the purchasing, product and production manager, so this is completed according to company's routines and guidelines.
  • Educate and support other departments in the areas of product information, classification, labelling, and safety and environment for the products.
  • Support and encourage the use of management systems, with a focus on sustainable solutions throughout the value chain, as well as the important work of continuous development and improvement throughout the company. Be well acquainted with the company's quality work and document management system. Specifically, ensure that the company meets set requirements according to ISO 9001 & 14001.
