Head of DevOps / DevOps Lead / Senior Cloud Engineer - Azure, Automation - Remote + Bristol HQ

Fast growing, Bristol based, SaaS providing a positive social impact in areas such as crime reduction, child safeguarding and animal welfare; is in need of highly skilled, experienced and driven DevOps professional.

They are at the early stages of an exciting journey as they look to scale the business from circa 40 to 120+ heads and supporting customers across a multitude of domains, and need a DevOps Lead / Head of DevOps to play a critical role in helping them design and buld a scalable infrastructure to support the planned exponential growth of customers and users.

This is role that will require both strong hands on technical skills, as they will need someone who still loves rolling up their sleeves, combined with a proactive and strategic approach to ensure they plan and build ahead to support their needs ahead of time.

Some of the key responsibilities include:

• Plan, Design, Build, Implement and Manage infrastructure (including site installations, updates, and removals), ensuring infrastructure consistency and the maximum possible uptime for customer instances.
• Release management, including automation of releases and Continuous Delivery Pipeline.
• Using a security-first approach, work alongside developers to design, plan and implement the platform services inclusive of websites, software, applications, and database
• Be a subject matter expert to strengthen Azure skills and knowledge, as well as providing guidance.
• Automate infrastructure so it is fault-tolerant and self-recovers. Be accountable for the performance and reliability of the cloud hosted instances.
• Transition IaaS and on-premise workloads to Azure, providing governance on areas such as networking, security, and development pipelines.
• Work within a Scaled Agile (SAFe) based environment to deliver incremental releases of the platform and support services to enable the delivery of new releases in accordance with the prioritised features in the backlog.
• Setup and lead the DevOps team, with monitoring and reporting on team goals, and encouraging the growth of a DevOps community.

Our customer is primarily an MS Azure user, so expert skills and knowledge in this space is essential. AWS would be a beneficial addition.

Salary for this role is negotiable as our customer wants the best. We are advertising between £70,000 - £90,000 but would be keen to speak to people outside of this if needed as if right our customer will want to talk to you.

Their HQ is in Bristol, but the work can be done remotely. If you were happy and able to meet in the HQ on occasions this would be great but again not something they want to deter someone from working with them.

With the nature of our customer's customers they will need someone who is able to go through Security Clearance vetting, so will not be able to sponsor work visas for this position.
