Our client is an established Ambulance Service and NHS Foundation Trust and is currently looking to recruit reliable and enthusiastic Dispatch Assistants to join their motivated, friendly and hardworking team based in Bicester, Oxfordshire to support the smooth running of their Emergency Operations Centre.

The Job:

Our client is seeking Emergency Dispatch Assistants to support their vital 999 service. You will be working as part of a two person dispatch team to effectively utilise the allocation of emergency and non-emergency vehicles to incidents.

As part of the team, you will be working in the ambulance control centre alongside call takers, clinicians and other NHS professionals. You will be directly involved with the allocation of vehicles to a large variety of situations which would include anything from a road traffic collision to someone having a cardiac arrest. You will be operating a range of radio, text and computer assisted dispatch systems as well as maintaining vehicle and incident logs.

You will be required to demonstrate excellent communication and organisational skills whilst maintaining a calm and professional manner. Being able to retain composure in busy and stressful situations is vital for this role. This is a challenging and exciting career where no two shifts are ever quite the same.

Successful candidates will be required to complete a six week fulltime training programme at commencement of post which is fully paid. This covers the required dispatch training and mentoring.

This is a Band 3 NHS position with an excellent salary range of £20,330 - £21,777 pro rata, Candidates will also receive the following enhancements to their basic salary:

All day Saturday (midnight to midnight) as well as any week day after 8pm and before 6am - Time plus 35%

All day Sunday and public holidays (midnight to midnight) - Time plus 69%

The role is preferred on a full time basis, but there may be some part time hours on discussion (PT staff will be required to still complete the FT training period). Candidates will be required to work a variety of shifts which may include nights, weekends, bank holidays and religious holidays.
