Engineering Manager (Permanent)

Responsibilities:

* Accountability and management of the engineering budget, negotiate with suppliers and ensure downtime minimised with detailed PPM schedules.

Activities:

* Management of PPM's, agreeable to all, including Production Management
* Ensure H&S legislation is followed at all times for safe working environment.
* Accountable for the control of labour to minimise overtime
* Ensure that all engineering staff are fully trained, this also includes managing Engineering Apprentices
* Negotiate contracts with Air Service, Scales Service Companies
* Work in collaboration with suppliers that hold Engineering spares
* Any other ad-hoc and relevant duties directed by the GM

Result Areas:

* Ensure all breakdowns are attended to minimise lost time
* All findings to be documented through set process in a timely manner
* Work closely with all the Senior Management team to ensure all improvements are being made to increase quality and efficiency
* To control and organise labour in terms of shift rota's, holiday/absence cover in conjunction with Human Resources Department to ensure that agreed targets are achieved
* Promote a working environment charged with pride and enthusiasm which is fun and rewarding to our employees

Person specific

* Degree or equivalent level
* Min 5 yr experience within a supervisory / management role in the FMCG sector
* Excellent communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills
* Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines

Hours of work

* Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 4:00pm
