Product Safety Manager (Temporary)

** Product Safety Manager – 6 Month Fixed Term Contract **

Oaklands Global are currently looking to recruit an experienced Product Safety Manager for a reputable aerospace client on an initial 6-month fixed term contract. The role is based in the Middle East.

As the Product Safety Manager your responsibilities will include:

• Maintain and facilitate SEMS in line with project requirements
• Produce and maintain the SEMP and Safety Justification
• Ensure the Hazard Log is effectively maintained and managed
• Encourage and foster a just culture and open reporting
• Ensure reported occurrences are investigated
• Manage a Safety Programme Plan that captures key safety management activities
• Conduct confirmation of controls and mitigations key to preventing occurrences
• Submit Safety Maturity Matrix reports in line with project requirements
• Support the introduction of new capabilities within the scope of the Training Programme
• Chair Hazard Management Meetings
• Secretariat the Project Safety & Environmental Committee meeting
• Manage Safety Action Groups
• Support the generation of Environmental Impact Assessment
• Provide SEMS guidance and advice
• Manage the compilation of applicable Safety documentation
• Act as primary Product Safety Management point of contact for key internal and external key stakeholders
• Act as Deputy for the Head of Safety & Quality as needed
• Manage day to day direction of direct reports ensuring flow and completion of business objectives
• Support SHE reviews
• Complete mandated training courses
• Complete any specialist training, as defined by line manager or within PDR

To be considered for the role:

• Educated to degree level preferably with Chartered Engineer status or educated to an MSc level within a safety related discipline but not essential.
• Experience of the development and implementation of Safety and Environmental Management Systems.
• Practical experience in one or more of the following systems: aircraft maintenance, airworthiness, an aircrew training service provision.
• Experience of Hazard Management and Risk Assessment.
• Experience of aerospace product and support design and development activities through qualification, acceptance and service delivery.
• Experience of the development and application of engineering process, organisational design, functional governance.
• Knowledge of Design organisation safety, Maintenance organisation safety, airworthiness engineering process and procedures and flying safety
• Practical experience and knowledge of the LCM and ELC process, handbooks and guides.
• Understands how to tailor the safety management system processes to meet project requirements.
• Experience in conducting investigations surrounding safety incidents.
• Strong technical and interpersonal skills with an ability to apply innovative thinking to problem solving.
• Able to plan and carryout safety assessments
• Experience and knowledge in the production of safety justifications and the management of the production of safety evidence
• Experience in Human Factors and its applicability to Safety Engineering process and provide a small amount of guidance where necessary.
