SEN Teacher - KS3 ASD/SLD class

I am currently working with a 'Good' SEN school who are looking to appoint an SEN teacher to start in January for a KS3 class with ASD/SLD. This SEN teacher role will be based within the secondary site of this 2 site school which caters for students aged 11-19 with ASD, SLD, MLD and challenging behaviour. The school would like to interview potential SEN teachers ASAP for the position. This SEN teacher position will require the successful candidate to teach across the national curriculum using the primary and secondary national curriculums as many of the children are working at a lower ability than their age. PECs and Makaton experience or relevant training is beneficial for this SEN teaching position as many of the students are non-verbal within the class.

The ideal SEN teacher will have the following skills/experiences:

• At least 1 year's UK teaching experience within a mainstream or SEN school
• Must have QTS (essential, the school cannot unfortunately accept applicants without QTS or equivalent)
• Experience with PECs and Makaton (desirable)
• Team Teach training (beneficial but can be offered at a later date)
• Excellent behaviour management skills
• Strong subject knowledge of the primary/secondary national curriculum

This site opened in 2016 and is built specifically with the needs of the students in mind. There is a huge amount of facilities onsite and offsite as the school aim to develop student's independence skills.
