A very special school for secondary aged pupils aged from 11-16 are seeking a motivated, forward thinking and caring teaching assistant with experience of supporting speech and language communication difficulties to join them from January 2018 on a long term, full time and on-going basis.

How pupils are supported throughout the school day…

• Outstanding Teacher planning, delivering and assessing learning
• Teaching Support Assistants working closely with pupils 1:2:1 or 2:2:1
• On site Speech and Language and Occupational Therapists to assist the pupils needs
• Creative curriculum including Art/Drama and Design Technology

The benefits of Supporting in a SEN setting include:

• Supporting 1:2:1 or small groups in small classes of up to 10 students
• A high ratio of staff to students
• A creative and practical learning environment
• Working in collaboration with a range of specialists (e.g. therapists and counsellors)
• Gaining relevant qualifications e.g. Makaton, PECs, TEACCH, TeamTeach

As a Learning Support Assistant joining the school you can expect:

• Smaller class sizes (no more than 10 to a class)
• On the job support
• To work on a 1:1 capacity with pupils
• Training and development opportunities
• Work alongside therapists/councilors

The Head of school wants you to apply because you have:

• Experience/interest of working with children/young people in some capacity
• SEN experience including SLD (severe learning difficulties) and PMLD (pro-found multiple learning difficulties) - Desirable
• Be willing to learn and develop their knowledge and skills
• Have excellent communication skills
• Be positive and enjoy a challenge
• Has a DBS (we can support with your application)
