Where you'll work
You will be based at their Watford Municipal Depot, where their main operations, waste transfer station and workshop are sited. The Workshop is a traditional purpose built building with five working bays. There are on site stores, an office, welfare facilities and a mess room to ensure a self-contained, effective working environment. At times you may be required to attend vehicle break downs out on site. They are extremely passionate about the work we do. What you'll do
As the Workshop Operations Supervisor you will manage performance of the Workshops in accordance with company policy and procedure detailed by Depot and Transport Manager, work to the instruction of the Depot and Transport Manager to ensure that the highest required operational, quality, and safety standards are met and manage company Health, Safety Environment and Quality standards and expectations to meet and maintain ISO and OHSAS standards. You will be required to undertake repairs and routine maintenance of a large variety of vehicles plant and equipment. As the Workshop Operations Supervisor you will be required to provide service delivery in line with customer expectations, maintaining and developing effective relationships and communication lines with waste, Street Cleansing and Parks operations, you will be required to create and maintain relationships with regional workshop locations, whilst maintaining a professional and customer focused attitude at all times.
You will manage the cost effectiveness of all vehicle repairs whilst understanding customer and vehicle consequences and maximising vehicle warranty address, manage engineer performance, productivity and being responsible for quality control and manage the business relationship and overall day to day performance of the workshop services.

Skills & Qualifications required for the role

To enable you to carry out this role you will possess an in-depth knowledge of a wide range of vehicles, have a robust knowledge of electrical and mechanical engineering, pneumatics, and hydraulics and possess people management skills e.g. Conflict management and the ability to defuse volatile situations, succession planning, and mentoring. You will have an excellent understanding of the legal and technical requirements required in organising busy workshop, have excellent communication, interpersonal, negotiation, presentation, training and coaching skills and possess excellent technical experience knowledge and qualifications preferably in the waste management vehicle engineering sector. You will have a proven track record of progression and a general grounding of supervisory/management experience and leadership skills. You will be self-motivated with the ability to work to deadlines and work on own initiative, able to maintain a flexible and positive work ethic accepting the demands of the business and able to be prepared to engage in further personal develop as and when required. You will have or be prepared to study for IOSH & CPC, a Vocational licence entitlement however is essential.
