Location: Gloucester

Salary: £35000 - 60000 + bonus, 26 days holiday, 12% pension, health, life and critical illness insurance, relocation assistance

Start: March 2018 onwards (client is happy to accept long notice period for the right candidate)

An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced planning, environmental, geographical, physical science or town and country planning professional with good EIA and national infrastructure planning knowledge / experience to work as a Town and Country Planning Association Specialist in support of our client's UK nucelar new build programme.

The client is looking fro 1 x senior planning specialist (salary up to £60k) and 1 x planning specialist (up to £40k)

This role will be based at the client's head office in Gloucester near to j11a of the M5, with significant travel to the site in North Wales.

The purpose of these posts will be to support the TCPA Planning Lead in managing and co-ordinating TCPA planning applications. The post holder will build effective relationships with relevant local authorities and other stakeholders to progress programmes to satisfactory conclusions in alignment with budget and requirements.

Currently roles will be involved in preparing for examination of DCO application, thus experience with DCO's would be v. useful but not essential, a 'normal planner' would be ok

Member of MRTPI would be ideal / preferred, other similar membership would be ok (e.g. IEMA)

Ideally need a degree in environmental science or similar subject

Senior role has been / is involved in:

  • Preparing docs for DCO application, leading environmental planning statements, etc
  • Leading consultants delivering above
  • Specing out work and overseeing returns from contractors
  • Overseeing delivery and budget
  • Need project management skills / experience for role

Key Skills / Experience

  • Strong planner with a good understanding of EIA processes
  • Major infrastructure (construction) project experience would be ideal, specific energy sector knowledge would be useful but not hugely important
  • Knowledge of national infrastructure planning
  • Experience of application of planning policy, and environmental and planning legislation
  • Someone from a 'client' (as opposed to contractor) organisation would be useful
