An exciting opportunity is now available for a Supplier Development Manager to join a unique company based in Stevenage. Working in the global defence industry, the company currently has 10,000 employees across their UK and European offices and is now looking to increase their headcount by 5% in 2018.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Development Phase (for assigned Portfolio of Suppliers):

    • Support Project Industrial Manager for Supplied Equipment (IMSE) during the development phase, by providing a complete picture of Supplier Performance, Risk, Capability and Global Capacity.
    • Contribute, as appropriate, to Industrial Validation Process (PRR, FAI, IVM, VMS) in support of the Project IMSE and endorse the Surveillance Plan to be executed during the Production phase
  • Production Phase (for assigned Portfolio of Suppliers):

  • Generate Supplier Risk Profile through Risk Understanding assessment as part of the Supply Chain Risk Management process, determining a baseline maturity scorecard.
  • Identify potential industrial Supply Chain Risks and put in place associated improvement and mitigation plans. Manage risks to closure. Escalate critical Supply Chain risks affecting Supplier OT and OQ performance using company Risk tool.
  • Monitor Supplier Performance (On Time, On Quality) and its adherence to Operational demand during production.
  • Manage preventive analysis against delivery performance: Conduct root cause analysis, in conjunction with Supplier, in order to address actual and predicted poor performance against OT and OQ targets.
  • Develop Continuous Sustainable Improvement Plans (CSIP) and track improvement trend against baseline maturity score. - both looking at company and supplier sides
  • Consolidate and rationalize transversal supplier improvement activities across the equipment Supply Chain.
  • Ensure, after Validation of Manufacturing System (VMS), the continuity of industrial processes and tools at the supplier facility, put in place during development and in consistency with Surveillance Plan. Ensure sustainability during potential ramp-up or ramp-down phase.
  • Provide re-validation of Tier 1 and Sub-Tier Supply Chain Capability, Capacity and industrial qualification in the event of a change of process and/ or transfer of the industrial lines.
  • Provide a project focused Supply Chain Management interface in order to collate Supplier Risk, Performance and Improvement metrics and report to wider stakeholder community.

What we are looking for:

  • Engineering or Business Qualification, preferably to Degree level
  • CIPS post-graduate Diploma or equivalent and/ or a significant track record of demonstrable experience/ delivery within a supply chain arena.
  • Substantial experience of supply chain management in the Aerospace, Defence Industry or Manufacturing environments.
  • Experienced in Product and Process Risk Management.
  • Good understanding of Project management principles, practices and processes.
