My client is currently seeking a Chief Executive Officer for a charitable trust based in the Worcester area. The successful candidate will have experience of a similar role and be able to guide and develop the charity moving forward.

A relocation package is available with this position.

Responsible to: Board of Trustees Chair

Responsible for: Senior Management Team

Principle tasks:

  1. Leading the charity by developing the long term strategy to achieve sustainability and its objectives.
  2. Provide ambitious, inspirational and values led leadership and drive forward service delivery and customer services ensuring sustainable financial outcomes are achieved
  3. Lead the delivery of the current Business Plan for the charity and prepare and develop future Business Plans

  1. Develop a sustainable financial strategy for the organisation, including supplementary strategies on commercial development, fundraising and operational developments
  2. Represent and promote at a senior level, with a key focus on maintaining and developing strong relationships in support of the professional and public reputation whilst enhancing its profile.
  3. Position charity at a pivotal and strategic level developing strong credibility with key senior influencers, partners and stakeholders.
  4. Responsible for generating, securing and developing income, and controlling and reducing expenditure
  5. Develop strong and clear leadership to staff teams ensuring that they are fully equipped to fulfil their roles, and to build a strong and supportive culture among staff, Trustees and volunteers.
  6. Manage, motivate and monitor performance of Senior Management Team along with the development and delivery of Business Plan
  7. Support and advise the Chair and Trustees of the Board and lead on good governance of the Trust
  8. Build appropriate and effective collaboration, partnerships and consortia to deliver activities and services.
  9. Engage and influence key stakeholders and partners, keeping abreast of the wide range of issues affecting work both locally and nationally
  10. Develop and deliver key performance measurement and management frameworks
  11. Work with the City Council to develop capital improvement opportunities for the buildings occupied
  12. Take responsibility for the implementation and management of safeguarding policies and procedures as the Designated Safeguarding Officer
  13. Take responsibility for the implementation and management health and safety policies and procedures as the Designated Health and Safety Officer

Person Specification

  1. Experience and consistent achievement at a senior management level within an organisation of comparable or larger size and complexity, including operating in response to a changing external landscape, business acumen, and an understanding of the third sector.

  1. Commitment to the values and mission, allied to a demonstrable understanding of the challenges facing the city of Worcester especially in the areas supported.

  1. A commercial outlook with demonstrable experience of securing and attracting new income streams leading to enhanced financial stability and sustainability, allied to demonstrable cost control.
  2. Experience in the role of a visible and effective ambassador, with a track record in successfully championing the aims and ambitions of an organisation, marketing skills, allied to exceptional interpersonal communication skills and strong network connections in Worcester.

  1. Inspirational and visionary leadership influencing both short term business objective delivery, as well as medium to long term strategic direction.
  2. Experience of successful high level strategic and operational management, and a proven track record of leading in the formulation and delivery of key objectives within a multi-disciplined organisation
  3. Extensive experience and demonstrable success in developing and leading successful multi-sector partnerships and engaging and influencing a diverse range of stakeholders
  4. Ability to provide successful performance management, motivation and development of staff and experience of leading multi-disciplinary teams to achieve a range of objectives
  5. Intellectual ability to assimilate complex issues and present options and operational solutions in an understandable way, with the ability to spot lateral linkages and opportunities
  6. Ability to develop and deliver a fundraising strategy for a charitable organisation
  7. Ability to prepare and manage business planning, budgets and operational expenditure, including reporting to Trustees
  8. Ability to support the board of trustees, ensure strong governance of the organisation and write and present board reports
