Support Worker / Care Assistant (Part Time)

Care Assure Supported Living are looking to recruit a part time Support Worker / Care Assistant with an interest in mental health support to join our existing team. This role will involve working two days a week in one of our five houses, the contract is nineteen hours a week plus two sleepovers. As a lone worker in a house of between three and six clients, you will be given the freedom to work independently and support clients to improve their life-skills and live successfully in the community.
The shift pattern for this role is: Tuesday 3pm – 10pm + sleepover, and alternate Friday / Sunday 8am – 10pm + sleepover.
Support Worker / Care Assistant Key Responsibilities:
- Support our clients to attain as much involvement, independence, and choice as possible
- Support our clients to find volunteer work, educational opportunities and new experiences within the local community.
- Provide a respectful, accepting and tolerant environment that our clients can thrive in; ensure that their needs are met, and their dignity and privacy are maintained at all times.
- To ensure the upkeep of service users records where appropriate.
- To encourage clients to independently complete personal care as identified in agreed support plans.
- To support clients to be able to independently prepare meals
- Contribute to the daily running of the house; you will especially be expected to be involved in cleaning of communal areas
- To take part in scheduled day activities with clients in accordance with planned timetables and to actively ensure that they are involved in normal living activities.
- You will be expected to contribute to effective communication with the clients, with their relatives and friends, with outside agencies, and with other members of staff.
- You must have the ability to defuse or resolve stressful situations by using effective communication.
The ideal Support Worker / Care Assistant:
- You will preferably have experience of working in a care environment, with a mental health focus.
- Able to process, record and pass on information; and carry out instructions accurately
- Able to prioritise workload when working independently.
- Excellent verbal & written skills
- Basic understanding of using IT systems (Microsoft Office, Outlook and Windows)
- NVQ / QCF Level 2 or equivalent in Health & Social Care and a completed Care Certificate would be beneficial
