Mechanical Maintenance Technician, Permanent, Plymouth

An Excellent Opportunity has arisen for a Mechanical Maintenance Technician, within the Clients Mechanical Maintenance Team to be based at a Power Plant in Plymouth. The role of the Technician is to plan and carry out scheduled and reactive maintenance in a safe and efficient manner.

Key Responsibilities

Reporting to the Maintenance Support Engineer, the key responsibilities and duties will include:-

  • Executing routine and non-routine maintenance activities in accordance with agreed procedures and operational requirements to ensure plant is operating safely, effectively and efficiently
  • Carrying out first line maintenance activities, with response to emergency / unscheduled situations in order to protect plant and personnel, ensuring compliance with safety and environmental policies
  • Investigating complex technical problems relating to critical plant, identifying, diagnosing and reporting defects within the plant and ensuring defects are resolved whilst maintaining station performance, reliability and meeting operational targets by returning plant to normal operating service
  • Preparing work method statements, risk assessment and / or plant operating instructions ensuring the required level of maintenance to asset is achieved and records maintained
  • Preparing work orders, ordering spares, completing risk assessments and identification of resources. This includes the identification of contractors, compilation of work specifications, monitoring of work standards on-site and conducting a review of the quality of work on completion
  • Providing practical, disciplined leadership for all work, carrying out the delegated person responsibility to ensure that all engineering and Health, Safety and Environmental practices are adhered to.
  • Acting as technical specialist for designated 'Plant Area Responsibilities'
  • Providing service support functions to the Operations Department, ensuring defects and status of any maintenance activity is effectively communicated to the shift teams

Ideal Candidate

Background

  • Demonstrable experience within the power generation or similar process industry
  • Practical knowledge of process plant and equipment
  • Maintenance management and planning system experience
  • Completed a recognised formal training programme or apprenticeship to achieve technician status (C&G, parts I, II and III) - essential

The starting salary will be dependent on the successful candidate's competence, experience and qualifications
