Commercial Vehicle Workshop Technician

An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Commercial vehicle workshop Technician to join the Companies fleet team, based in St Albans, to plan and supervise the maintenance of a mixed fleet of vehicles. You will be required to observe all rules and appropriate operating procedures and instructions, and interact and work as a team with other workshop Staff. Another important aspect of the role is to inspect the vehicles and equipment to Company standards and procedures. You will also arrange the purchase of replacement parts, outside repair and other services, and report any unsafe or defective plant, tools, equipment, PPE, practices, methods or other hazards. The undertaking of the diagnosis of vehicle and equipment faults, major component overhaul is a major aspect of this role plus you will also undertake regular safety monitoring of Workshop facilities and equipment.

The companies St Albans commercial depot operates a fleet of 100 commercial vehicles, on a daily basis, carrying out collections in the Mid-Counties and into North London. We provide a service to the commercial industry with a customer base of around 3000. All collections are made in a number of ways, using RCV, REL, Skip and Roll On/Off vehicles. The site also incorporates its own transfer station, taking waste from our own commercial vehicles, St Albans Municipal waste as well as local third parties.

To be successful in your application for this vacancy we require you to be a time served HGV mechanic that holds a Class 2 license. You must also be skilled in diagnosis and overhauling of components, with a skilled standard of administration.

This role is being offered as a 48 hour week, working Monday to Friday. Candidates will need to be flexible in their approach to the hours worked, with some Saturday working required. Any hours worked over the basic will be paid at time and half.
