Job Role:

The Council are currently recruiting for a Senior Zone Operative who will cover the entire borough. You will need to ensure the provision of an efficient and effective cleansing and maintenance service throughout Colchester. As well as communicate with colleagues and the public, principally working in an allocated zone but being mobile and working in other zones whenever appropriate, including out of hours working.

This role is physically active and requires an individual who is keen on improving the quality of cleanliness for residents and improving the street scene.

The Candidate:

You will need a full driving licence which includes Category C or C1 (7.5 tonne) and the ability to use a Smart Phone. The successful candidate would be expected to work early morning shifts and one in three weekends.

The Zone Operative-Sweeper driver will need basic DIY and maintenance skills to be able to carry out minor repairs across the Borough including: repairing litter bins, installing street name plates, painting, litter picking and generally looking after the environmental quality of the Borough.

They need someone with a 'See it, Solve it' attitude who is able to spot what needs to be done and gets on with it.
