Network Designer (Permanent)

FINTEC recruit is seeking a Network Designer based in Greater Manchester. Salary is £70,000 to £75,000 plus pension/healthcare/benefits package. This is a permanent position working in IT/Digital/Telecoms. Your will require to have experience with Huawei, Juniper, Ericsson and Cisco. This is a.hands-on role having a strong and varied engineering background in ISP or Telecoms industry and with a mix of network and systems skills

Responsibilities for the Network Designer position:

• Daily liaison with the Network & Infrastructure Technical Architects and other Designers for reviews and infrastructure changes
• Contribute to the planning of the Network & Infrastructure programme
• Developing network planning and modelling tools
• Supporting the connectivity, voice, hosting and security needs of residential, business, channel and wholesale customers
• Produce and implement designs, build plans, test plans, transition plans and documentation

Skills and Qualifications:

• Degree in Computer Science, IT, Engineering or equivalent relevant qualifications
• Project Management using agile or lean methodology, leadership qualities
• Experience of building SDN/NFV networks or working in a continuous integration environment
• Building test environments and test tools, applying TDD or BDD practices to infrastructure
• Experinece of working with Large scale ISP network technologies at all layers: IP, NAT, OSPF, ISIS, BGP, .1q, VLANs, STP, RSTP, VRRP/HSRP, Optical networking
• Hardware vendors: Juniper, Ericsson, foundry/Brocade, Cisco, Zyxel, Huawei ,Large scale ISP access services: Ethernet, broadband, Mobile, QoS, IPv6, VoIP, SIPCorporate networks, firewall management, PCI-DSS, WiFi, Network and authentication services: DNS, RADIUS, Tacacs, Active Directory, Asterisk ,Configuration management: Puppet, GIT, SCCM, rancid, Network management: OpenNMS, Nagios, MRTG, SNMP, Cacti, SCOM, ELK, U2000, ZMS, JunOS Space, Tools development: Perl, shell, PHP, Python, SQL or other scripting languages
